The semi-finals of the Social Development Commission’s National Twenty/20 Community Cricket Competition gets underway this weekend with four parishes namely Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. Ann and Clarendon battling each other at Ultimate Jerk Centre in St. Ann.
Waltham PYC from Kingston and St. Andrew will go against Content Gardens from St. Ann in a match that may cause a hullabaloo among supporters, who will want to see their team advance to finals of the competition.
In the second match of the day’s events Old Harbour from St. Catherine and Racecourse from Clarendon will be locked in a an equally intensifying game closing the curtains on the semi-final round. The anticipation of cricket fans is on a high as one two Jamaica West indies players Krishman Santokie who plays for RaceCourse and Andre Russell from Old Habour will go head to head on the field. No can guess who will advance to the final round on September 4 at the Alpart Sports Club in St. Elizabeth.
Meanwhile Eden Park, St. Mary was the place to be last weekend as the quarter-finals for the competition started. In one of the most electrifying games of the season former National Champions Broughton was sent home packing following their opponents Content Gardens 4 runs lead in the game.
Content Gardens made 178 while the defending champions made 174. It was a big defeat for Broughton who was expected to advance to the final round.
In the second match Old Harbour defeated Eglin Town by a whopping 94 runs making a total of 219. Eglin Town made 125 all out knocking them out of the competition.
